Austrian Alpine Club: Junior Mountainbiking Instructor Courses
Our Bikefices (that’s the plural of Bikefex, by the way…) Maria, Rene and Paul, together with Markus Emprechtinger from Flat Sucks, make up the national mountainbike training team (junior instructor courses) for the Austrian Alpine Club, the ÖAV. The focus of these 5-day courses is very much on group leadership skills and being able to create training exercises in a systematic and effective way for teaching at local branch level.
Demand for junior MTB instructor courses has strongly increased in recent years. So much so, that we were asked to write that a training manual for the club. With mountainbiking becoming a new core AAC mountain sport, it was time to grant it its position as one of the pillars within the Club. We worked together to create a text that now sits proudly on the shelf next to its big brothers, some of the classic texts on alpinism. It serves to assist qualified junior instructors in training newcomers to mountainbiking in a way that is both safe and inspirational.
You can find more information and dates for all teacher-training courses on the Club’s Academy website.
