e-Enduro Singletrack Week in Tyrol, Austria

Alpine trail El Dorado around Innsbruck

Innsbruck, the capital of the Alps, is simultaneously Alpine, urban, colourful, beautiful, and lively. And it offers some of the most unusual and beautiful MTB trails in the world. Routes that each time fascinate us anew, no matter how often we ride them. The entire region, from Achensee to Nauders, deep into the Ötztal or high up to the Brennerpass, is criss-crossed with trails, far too many to count. Our Innsbruck-based guides have been exploring the mountains since the 1990s and have developed and refined spectacular day-rides that get the very best out of the area. This long experience of riding in Alpine terrain, however, has also made us into demanding trail-gourmets – so we’ll only take you on rides that will put smiles onto our faces too.

Over the course of six days we reveal our favourite routes while showing you the Tyrolean mountain environment in all its glory: the kind of unending descents that take a long time to find elsewhere in the Alps. If you’re looking for the best trails, powerful encounters with wild environments, friendship and top food, you’ll be fine with us. There’s no pressure: we take our time and enjoy the surroundings, and the epowered assistance makes the uphill sections fun and easy.

In order to get the most out of these routes, we recommend eMTBs with 140 – 160 mm of suspension travel.

Character

The mountainbiking areas around our base in the Hotel Stern offer spectacular panoramic views across the sparkling Tyrolean mountain ranges — as far as the eye can see. (Note: “Stern” means “star” in English, not “stern”!) Our rides will be mainly on singletracks, sometimes with assistance from ski lifts. At higher altitudes, rough, craggy, gravel strewn paths await us; further down in the forested areas we ride mainly on soft pine needles with occasional tree roots and tight switchback turns. Flowing sections alternate with technically challenging areas, bringing plenty of variety.

And yes, wherever possible, we ride uphill – even on singletracks. That’s what makes eBike riding special … come and join the adventure.

Our guide will plan each day’s riding according to the weather and the wishes of the group. We have a wide range of alpine rides prepared, at a range of altitudes. This puts us in the useful position of being able to be extremely flexible in terms of matching everyone’s wishes and avoiding the often very localised rain showers.

The routes are located across the entire Inntal valley and in the many sidevalleys, including the Ötztal, Wipptal and several more.

eBike-riding is demanding. Yes, you read that correctly. Routes that would otherwise require pushing to reach the top are with motorised support now rideable – but are in places extremely challenging. You should be comfortable with daily rides on a normal bike that include a climb of up to 1.300 m and a descent of up to 2.500 m. Depending on the route, we sometimes extend our range by carrying a second battery; make sure that your rucksack has sufficient extra space for this.

Technical demands are mostly moderate, maximum S2. In some places the ride is simpler and with more flow; there are also harder sections to be either wrestled with or bypassed.

Obsteig is easy to reach. The simplest and most ecofriendly way is to take the train into the Inntal valley; the nearest station to Obsteig is Mötz im Inntal. Alternatively, we can pick you up from any of the stations in and around Innsbruck. For longdistance travellers, flying to Innsbruck is also an option. We can collect you from the airport, by arrangement.

  • Rucksack for day rides (drinks bottle, spare inner tube, pump, energy bars, lights for riding on the road, …)
